The third is freedom from Hunger, they help by equipping families with proper resources, educating and empowering communities. These programs help families in low-income neighborhoods. Larger countries need to find more sustainable food options to maintain the growing populations. More developed countries can also help with developing new strains of agriculture that can be sustained in new environments. "International agricultural research centers have been key to raising crop yields in the past" (Herdt, 1998). Larger and more developed countries can help smaller countries by producing and selling seeds of crops that can survive in those areas. Farmers need help and assistance because they are the backbone of the agricultural system. There needs to be ways to develop clean water for everyone to use and to maintain crops. "Improving infrastructure for poor people, especially rural people, must be the long-term focus" (Smith, 2022). Larger countries can help with direct food aid, but this can only help for a brief period and is not a long-term solution. Developing countries can also help smaller countries by being a good example when it comes to government. "The capacity of government officials in developing countries needs to be built. Officials need to be empowered to use the information at hand to make life better for their citizens" (Institute of Medicine, 2010). The government can ask for aid when their population needs food and water.
