decreasing wage rate for host community labourers due to unauthorized workforce participation by the refugee people ;declining agricultural production due to loss of topsoil and quickly falling water table in the affected area hosing refugees; Increased addiction and work-averse attitude among local teenagers due to easy and cheap access to sedatives; these are the problem. Make analysis and possible solution to the Rohingya influx to the host community from an economic point of view. Suggest an economic solution and how it may drive the market force (e.g. demand and supply) to solve the problem at the community level.

Answers

Answer 1

Analysis of the Rohingya influx to the host community from an economic point of view reveals several challenges: decreasing wage rates for local laborers, declining agricultural production, and increased addiction and work-averse attitudes among local teenagers. These issues can be addressed through an economic solution that takes into account market forces, specifically demand and supply dynamics.

One possible economic solution is to promote skill development and entrepreneurship among both the host community and the Rohingya population. This can be achieved through vocational training programs, access to microfinance for small businesses, and support for cooperative ventures. By enhancing the skills and entrepreneurial abilities of individuals in the community, the labor market can become more diverse and competitive, leading to increased demand for labor and potentially higher wage rates.

Additionally, efforts should be made to address the environmental challenges faced by the host community. Implementing sustainable agricultural practices and water conservation measures can help mitigate the negative impacts of declining agricultural production, such as the loss of topsoil and falling water tables. This can be achieved through education and training programs that promote sustainable farming techniques and efficient water management.

To address the issue of addiction and work-averse attitudes among local teenagers, comprehensive social programs should be implemented. These programs should focus on providing educational opportunities, vocational training, and awareness campaigns about the harmful effects of substance abuse. By empowering the youth with knowledge and skills, they can become active contributors to the local workforce, reducing dependency on sedatives and fostering a stronger work ethic.

Implementing these economic solutions will help drive market forces in the community. By creating a more skilled and competitive labor force, demand for labor will increase, potentially leading to higher wage rates. Sustainable agricultural practices can enhance productivity, ensuring a stable supply of food and reducing the reliance on external sources. By addressing addiction and work-averse attitudes, the community can benefit from a motivated and productive workforce.

Overall, the economic solution focuses on empowering individuals through skill development, entrepreneurship, and sustainable practices. By harnessing market forces and promoting a conducive environment for economic growth, the host community can effectively address the challenges associated with the Rohingya influx from an economic perspective.

when a company starts a new division and recruits people to do the work, which aspect of its internal environment is it most directly changing? owners culture physical environment employees

Answers

When a company starts a new division and recruits people to do the work, it is most directly changing its employees, which is an aspect of its internal environment.

The internal environment of a company refers to the factors and conditions that exist within the organization and directly influence its operations and performance. It encompasses various elements, including the company's culture, physical environment, employees, and more.

However, when a company starts a new division and hires individuals to work in that division, the most immediate and direct change occurs in the employees aspect of the internal environment. The addition of new employees brings in fresh talent, skills, and perspectives into the company. It affects the composition of the workforce, leading to changes in the dynamics, teamwork, and overall capabilities of the organization.

The new division and the recruitment process can also have indirect effects on other aspects of the internal environment. For example, it may impact the company's culture as the new division's employees contribute their own values, work styles, and attitudes. Additionally, the physical environment may be altered to accommodate the needs of the new division, such as providing office space, equipment, or resources specific to their work.

However, it is important to note that all aspects of the internal environment are interconnected, and changes in one aspect can have ripple effects on others. Therefore, while the immediate and direct change occurs in the employees aspect, the introduction of a new division and recruitment process can have broader implications on the overall internal environment of the company.

the insured has incurred extraordinary expenses with the use of a public adjuster and seeks compensation for those expenses in their crime claim. will the crime policy form pay for those expenses?

Answers

No, the crime policy form will not pay for those expenses incurred by the insured for the use of a public adjuster.

The coverage provided by a crime insurance policy typically focuses on financial losses resulting from specified criminal activities such as theft, embezzlement, forgery, or fraud. Expenses incurred with the use of a public adjuster, while potentially beneficial for navigating the claims process, may not be covered under a standard crime policy.

Crime policies typically have specific coverage limits and exclusions, and they are designed to reimburse the insured for direct financial losses caused by criminal acts. Expenses related to hiring a public adjuster are typically considered indirect expenses and may not fall within the scope of coverage provided by a crime policy.

To determine if the crime policy will pay for the expenses incurred with a public adjuster, it is essential to carefully review the terms and conditions of the policy. It is recommended to consult the insurance policy contract, speak with the insurance provider or agent, or seek legal advice to understand the specific coverage and exclusions applicable to the situation.

Required information Problem 7-56 (LO 7-3) (Algo) [The following information applies to the questions displayed below.] Mickey and Jenny Porter file a joint tax return, and they itemize deductions. The Porters incur $3,050 in investment expenses. They also incur $4,750 of investment interest expense during the year. The Porters' income for the year consists of $171,000 in salary and $3,970 of interest income. Problem 7-56 Part-b (Algo) b. What would their investment interest expense deduction be if they also had a ($2,490) long-term capital loss? Investment interest expense deduction

Answers

The investment interest expense deduction for Mickey and Jenny Porter would be $3,050.

The investment interest expense deduction is subject to certain limitations based on the taxpayer's net investment income. In this case, the Porters' investment expenses amount to $3,050 and their investment interest expense is $4,750. To calculate the deduction, we need to compare their investment interest expense to their net investment income.

Their net investment income is calculated by subtracting their investment expenses from their investment income. The Porters have $3,970 of interest income and $2,490 of long-term capital loss. Since the capital loss exceeds the interest income, the net investment income would be negative.

However, the investment interest expense deduction cannot exceed the net investment income. Therefore, even though the Porters have $4,750 of investment interest expense, they can only deduct $3,050, which is equal to their investment expenses.

In summary, the investment interest expense deduction for Mickey and Jenny Porter would be $3,050, as it is limited to their investment expenses.

Cost of commercial paper Commercial paper is usually sold at a discount. Fan Corporation has just sold an issue of 99-day commercial paper with a face value of $1.3 million. The firm has received initial proceeds of $1,273,574. (Note: Assume a 365-day year.) a. What effective annual rate will the firm pay for financing with commercial paper, assuming that it is rolled over every 99 days throughout the year? b. If a brokerage fee of $12,131 was paid from the initial proceeds to an investment banker for selling the issue, what effective annual rate will the firm pay, assuming that the paper is rolled over every 99 days throughout the year?

Answers

a. The effective annual rate (EAR) is 9.35%. b. The effective annual rate (EAR) is 11.76%.

a. The effective annual rate (EAR) that the firm will pay for financing with commercial paper, assuming it is rolled over every 99 days throughout the year can be calculated as follows:

Face value = $1.3 million

Initial proceeds = $1,273,574

Discount = $1,300,000 - $1,273,574 = $26,426

Time to maturity (T) = 99/365 years = 0.27123 years

Let the discount rate (r) be such that: PV = FV / (1 + r)PV

PV = Present Value of the commercial paper

FV = Face Value of the commercial paper

PV = FV - Discount

Hence;PV = $1,300,000 - $26,426 = $1,273,574$1,273,574 = $1,300,000 / (1 + r)^(0.27123)$1 + r = ($1,300,000 / $1,273,574) ^ (1 / 0.27123)

1 + r = 1.03662

r = 1.03662 - 1

r = 0.03662

EAR = (1 + r)^365/T - 1

EAR = (1 + 0.03662) ^ 365/0.27123 - 1

EAR = 9.35% rounded to two decimal places.

b. With a brokerage fee of $12,131 paid from the initial proceeds to an investment banker for selling the issue, the effective annual rate (EAR) that the firm will pay, assuming that the paper is rolled over every 99 days throughout the year can be calculated as follows:

Face value = $1.3 million

Initial proceeds = $1,273,574 - $12,131 = $1,261,443

Discount = $1,300,000 - $1,261,443 = $38,557

Time to maturity (T) = 99/365 years = 0.27123 years

Let the discount rate (r) be such that: PV = FV / (1 + r)PV

PV = Present Value of the commercial paper

FV = Face Value of the commercial paper

PV = FV - Discount - Brokerage Fee

Hence;PV = $1,300,000 - $38,557 - $12,131 = $1,249,312$1,249,312 = $1,300,000 / (1 + r)^(0.27123)$1 + r = ($1,300,000 / $1,249,312) ^ (1 / 0.27123)

1 + r = 1.04581

r = 1.04581 - 1

r = 0.04581

EAR = (1 + r)^365/T - 1EAR = (1 + 0.04581) ^ 365/0.27123 - 1

(1) the value of default-able bond; (2) the quasi debt-to-value ratio; (3) the probability of defaulting for the firm of debt issuing

Answers

The default-able bond's value can be calculated using the firm's value, face value, volatility rate, and risk-free rate. The quasi debt-to-value ratio and the probability of defaulting can also be determined.

To calculate the value of the default-able bond, we can use the Black-Scholes Merton model or a similar framework. By considering the face value, firm value, volatility rate, and risk-free rate, we can estimate the present value of the bond's expected cash flows, accounting for the probability of default.

The quasi debt-to-value ratio represents the proportion of debt to the firm's total value. It is calculated by dividing the face value of the bond by the firm's value.

The probability of defaulting for the firm can be determined by analyzing credit risk factors such as financial indicators, industry conditions, and market trends. This probability reflects the likelihood of the firm being unable to meet its debt obligations.

By evaluating these factors, investors and stakeholders can assess the value and risk associated with default-able bonds, understand the financial health of the firm, and make informed investment decisions.

Company A enters into a forward contract to purchase 16,000 barrels of oil at $48/barrel in 6 months. What is the net gain or loss if the spot price of oil is $53/barrel at expiration

Answers

When Company A entered into a forward contract to purchase 16,000 barrels of oil at $48/barrel in 6 months, it locked in the price of oil to protect itself against any potential price fluctuations in the future. However, if the spot price of oil at expiration is $53/barrel, Company A will incur a net loss on the contract.

To calculate the net gain or loss, we need to consider the difference between the forward price and the spot price. In this case, the forward price is $48/barrel, and the spot price is $53/barrel. The difference between the two is $5/barrel.

Since Company A is buying 16,000 barrels of oil, the total loss on the contract would be $80,000 ($5/barrel x 16,000 barrels). This means that Company A will have to pay $80,000 more than the current market price of oil at expiration.

Overall, the net gain or loss on the forward contract is dependent on the spot price of oil at expiration. If the spot price is higher than the forward price, the company will incur a loss, and if the spot price is lower than the forward price, the company will gain a profit.

The Piglet Company allocates MOH based on Direct Labor cost. Piglet expected to have $250,000 of MOH and $100,000 of DM used and $200,000 of DL costs. During the year, Piglet actually had $230,000 of MOH, $95,000 of DM Used and $205,000 of DL costs. What was over- or under-applied MOH amount?

Answers

The over- or under-applied MOH amount is $5,000. The Piglet Company has over-applied MOH by $13,902

To calculate the over- or under-applied MOH, we need to compare the allocated MOH with the actual MOH incurred. The allocated MOH based on Direct Labor cost is calculated as a percentage of Direct Labor cost.

Allocated MOH = (Direct Labor cost / Total Direct Labor cost) * MOH allocated

Allocated MOH = (200,000 / 205,000) * 250,000 = $243,902.44

Actual MOH - Allocated MOH = 230,000 - 243,902.44 = -$13,902.44

Since the result is negative, it means that the MOH was over-applied. To get the absolute value, we take the positive value of the difference: $13,902.44, which can be rounded to $13,902. Therefore, the over- or under-applied MOH amount is $13,902.

The Piglet Company has over-applied MOH by $13,902. This means that the allocated MOH based on Direct Labor cost was higher than the actual MOH incurred.

Describe the benefit of using and not using credit. Compare the following scenario and tell why it would be better to use credit in one and why it would be better to not use credit in the other. You should have 5 paragraphs, One for each scenario below.

Christmas shopping on a credit card vs cash or not shopping at all

Student loan vs paying for school cash or not going to college

Buying a house on credit/mortgage or cash vs renting

Putting a vacation on credit card or personal loan

Buying a car.on credit or cash or not owning a car

Answers

Answer:

1) So christmas shopping should be optional and most of the things in christmas shopping has no benefits for you, it can’t feed you, it can’t pay your rent, its only for your own entertainment so you shouldn’t use credit. If you use credit on useless things that you may end up not using at all, you could fall in debt. If your gonna go christmas shopping, try to not use credit, if your gonna use credit you have to consider if your gonna be able to pay this back or not. Using cash would be the best way becuase you have a limited amount of cash and you would be more careful spending it. With credit, you would be less considerate due to you having a lot of money all at once and some people fail to consider that they would have to pay back the cash they spent on the credit card. So not shopping at all should put you in the safe.

2) A student loan is usually alot. You should use credit becuase sometimes you don’t have the cash right away. If you graduate college with a degree, you cold get a job in the area you got a degree from. If successful and your careful about your spending, you should be able to pay back your student loan. Going to college and using credit is definitely the better answer here since a lot of jobs that can make you a living and could be used to pay back the student loan require a college degree. If you don;t go to college, sure you don’t have to pay back anything but you would be stuck with a very low income job and sometimes you would be barley making a living. The chances of a better job decreases if you don’t go to college since most jobs are looking for a special degree or at least a college degree.

3) Renting would be the best choice using cash. If your gonna get a house, you have to consider your income. If your income is low, a house is not a old choice. If a house is more expensive, a mortgage would be better since the interest is a one way (most of the time) but a credit has monthly intresest so the interest totaled up on an expensive house would be a lot. On a cheaper house its vice versa. If you have a low income job just rent with cash, renting would be best. Your most likely gonna live in a house forever but if you have to move somewhere, you’d have to sell it and do a bunch of confusing stuff and maybe get in even more debt, if you rent, you can move easily if you have to move somewhere closre to your work.

4) Vacation should be put on a personal loan. If your gonna go on vacation, don’t use credit. A vacation isn’t mandatory, you can go whenever you want. Juse becuase your friends are going to Hawaii, you don’t have to. If you have enough money, sure go for it, but you have to consider what you will do there and how big of a toll this could have your personal savings account. Like for example, lets say a plane ticket cost about 600 dollars. A hotel for a week stay would be about 100 dollars per night and that would be 700 dollars. Lets set aside 200 for entertainment and food. You would be rounding up to 1500 dollars just for a week in Hawaii and that’s just estimated (and probably the least amount).

5) Now for a car it really depends on what your job is and how far your job is. The best option I think would be buying a car with cash (if you have), credit (if you think you can pay it back). So if your job is like 10 miles away, a car would be the best since the subway or busses would take a long time and sometimes could not be consistent. A car would be faster and more reliable. If your job starts at 8am and using public transportation, it takes about an hour to get there. You leave at 7 am and the bus or train arrives 30 minutes late, your late for work and if it happens mulitple times, you could get fired. WIth a car its almost a 100 percent garuntee you wouldn’t be late and it’s faster. You’d keep your job and be able to pay off your Car if credit or just gain your money back if you used cash. If your job is next door, a car is useless but a car offers transportation. If you use like public transportation to go somewhere fun, it is cheap, bit with a car, you’d have to worry about gas prices and you’d have to pay a lot of attention. So it really depends on location.

Answers

In order to determine the effect of the tax on the demand and supply graph, please check the attached image.

A tax is a form of transfer to wealth from businesses to the government. Taxes increase the price of goods and services. As a result of the tax levied on the producers of automobile tires, the cost of making tires would increase. This would make producing tires more expensive.

As a result of the increase in the cost of making tires, the production of tires would fall. As a result, there would be a leftward shift of the supply curve. This would lead to a rise in equilibrium price and a decrease in equilibrium quantity.

Tashawna wants to open a modeling agency, be the principal thereof, and have no personal liability for debts. Which of the following organizations would best suit her needs?
a Sole proprietorship
b General partnership
c Corporation
d General proprietorship

Answers

The answer to the question about Tashawna organization needs is option c. Corporation

Of the options provided, a corporation would best suit Tashawna's needs for opening a modeling agency, being the principal, and having no personal liability for debts.

In a corporation, the business is a separate legal entity from its owners (shareholders), which means that the corporation is responsible for its own debts and obligations. As a result, Tashawna's personal assets would generally be protected from the liabilities of the corporation. This limited liability feature is a significant advantage for individuals who want to shield their personal assets from business debts.

On the other hand, a sole proprietorship and general partnership do not provide limited liability protection. In a sole proprietorship, Tashawna would be personally liable for the debts of the modeling agency, while in a general partnership, all partners would share personal liability for the partnership's obligations.

A "general proprietorship" is not a recognized business entity and may be an incorrect term. It is likely intended to refer to a sole proprietorship.

What is the term used to describe the fluctuation in demand of a certain product in relation to pricing?

Elasticity is a phrase used to describe how the price affects how much a certain product is in demand.

What is elasticity?

In neoclassical economic theory, elasticity is a key idea that aids in understanding a variety of economic concepts, including the incidence of indirect taxation, marginal concepts related to the theory of the firm, wealth distribution, and different types of goods related to the theory of consumer choice. When talking about how welfare is distributed, particularly in terms of consumer, producer, or government surpluses, a grasp of elasticity is crucial.

Elasticity is a key notion in many economic theories, and it may be seen in a number of key indicators. These include the elasticity of demand at different prices, the elasticity of supply at different prices, the elasticity of demand at different income levels, the elasticity of replacement between factors of production, the cross-price elasticity of demand, and the elasticity of substitution across time.
